Description

Get ready for the lowdown on the British upper class. This five-part limited series based on the acclaimed novels by Edward St. Aubyn tracks Patrick from a privileged but deeply traumatic childhood in the South of France through severe substance abuse in his twenties in New York and, ultimately, toward recovery back home in Britain.

With this series, the series gives an answer to all those who claimed that it rests on Benedict's game alone - that's his absence, but at the same time we get the strongest series with a creepy, oppressive atmosphere, outlining the starting point from which the story of the Patrick we saw in the first series began.

With such a sick father and an indifferent mother, it's not surprising that Patrick became a teenager. After this episode, you feel even more for the main character.

The classic of aggravated domestic violence: that this story is about figs (the mother, as a result, is already hooked, using antidepressants indiscriminately with alcohol in the best spirit of American housewives of the 60s), that Patrick's rape. What an asshole David is, an upstart with no money in his pocket, already shaking. Divorce and slippers in half, it was necessary to throw such an asshole in the trash, but 50 years ago it was, what can I say, if such assholes exist now and shut everyone around them up with great success. Hugo Weaving is a good actor in general - I wanted to fuck David throughout the series, but with a heavier log (and I suspect it will be in the next episodes)

Watching the episode was stressful for me. A strange mother, to put it mildly, who, after so many years, "fulfilled" her promise to take Patrick away from this house, simply expelling him and his family. At first I thought this woman was like this because of her husband's tyranny towards her and Patrick, but now it's clear that this is her "character" from the beginning. I feel sorry for Patrick's children. No matter how hard he tries, he's not much of a father. He screams in front of the children (thank God, at least not at them), breaks down, drinks a lot, and even in addition sleeps with another woman right in their house. They observe all this and it also has a certain effect on them. It is not for nothing that we have drawn several visual parallels between little Patrick and his eldest son. In the scene with the cleaning of the pool, Patrick directly resembles his father - he smokes a cigar and also watches thoughtfully in a bathrobe. Of course, despite all the shoals of the main character, you feel a little sorry for him, because the shadow of his scumbag father will remain with him for the rest of his life. The psychological traumas you received in childhood will be with you for the rest of your life, no matter how hard you try. Well, bravo to Benedict for his performance!
