Martin McDonagh's films remind me of Anderson's films in some way: the ending or the beginning is not really important, you just plunge into a certain section of a certain society in certain locations. That is, you just live for a couple of conditional days on the tail of the characters, simultaneously absorbing the beauty of nature and scenery.
But they see the stars, I don't want to know anything about these heroes. I don't want to live their life, invest my attention and time.
"Three Billboards" became the pinnacle of Martin's creativity, the heroine there was, though complex, but empathetic.
But I couldn't overcome the emotional block after Pharrell's character's backstory. And no matter how much the movie tries to convince me of something, I just can't get that scene out of my mind. And it's not right that the viewer thinks about it more than the participant of the events himself. The ending only made the taste of disappointment worse. I even got a little bit into the villain of this story.
Perhaps the director did not want his characters to be empathized with or loved at all. But it is also impossible to draw conclusions from history. There are just a lot of words about purgatory, which none of the characters are lucky enough to get into. And all this against the background of beautiful Gothic castles.

It's amazing how black humor and philosophical reasoning organically coexist in this film. I can't say that I admired him somehow, but it was definitely worth a look, it's a very good job.

What a cool movie McDonnell made. An almost perfectly tailored black comedy, after which you want to hang yourself... the main thing is not to get into the fucking Bruges.

An absurd, thrash, tragic, charming movie. And all this against the backdrop of the most beautiful views of Bruges. Colin Farrell's character is generally an asshole, but at the same time a touching puppy. The whole movie is one big contrast, which is easy and interesting to watch.

I love that this movie has become my and my wife's favorite. Anyway, we really loved watching McDonagh's work together.
